Teaching is deemed an essential service, and the teaching of adult learners is no exception. South Africa is known for its high amount of adult learners that are employed but have no formal qualifications. The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as an Adult Literacy Teacher more formally known as the ALT (Adult Literacy Teacher) - SAQA ID - 101709, NQF 5 with 198 credits.
An ALT plans, organises and implements a well-structured programme and / or a series of learning events; facilitates a learning programme; designs, produces and/or adapts learning materials and additional learning resources; produces, implements and evaluates assessment instruments, and profiles learners at NQF 1 Levels. The Adult Literacy Teacher may work as an assistant to the Adult Education Teacher.

The ALT performs all these activities for adult learners at Level 1. The Adult Literacy Teacher may work as an assistant to the Adult Education Teacher. Minimum Admission Requirements : An NQF Level 4 Qualification with Communication.
Duration : 18 months full-time / 24 months part-time
